A Good Teacher Is Like A Candle…

“A good teacher is like a candle—it consumes itself to light the way for others.” – Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

My work with children has been and is still most fulfilling and exciting. It is indeed a blessing. Working through this noble path, I realized all children are born with the potential to learn. They can learn, excel, and thrive in their uniqueness if privileged to have the required resources, good teachers, caring guardian, and the liberty to embrace their interest and talents.

For obvious reasons such as children being enrolled in school from early years these days, we could literally pinpoint the ‘good teacher’ as the most compelling factor in the child’s life journey. To this end, the importance of a good teacher cannot be emphasized enough.https://www.prodigygame.com/main-en/blog/qualities-of-a-good-teacher/

Every teacher must understand that what they are, is more important than what they teach. And this can only be truly gainful when as a teacher, you take teaching beyond being a profession to being a commitment. It should be such that speaks in the future of every child that passes through you. It is said that a good education can change anyone, but a good teacher can change everything.https://teach.com/what/teachers-change-lives/

So, as much as it lies in you as a teacher, take every child as a seed that must produce other seeds. Know that your influence can never be erased. I love the way Fred Rogers puts it and I quote, “anyone who does anything to help a child in his life is a hero. So, a good teacher is a hero.

Virtually all schools are prepared or preparing to engage students in the summer school program during this long vacation. It is yet another opportunity to reach out to that one child this holiday. I urge every teacher therefore, to faithfully rise to the The Noble Call’ and make a difference through whatever theme your school has planned out for the summer. In whatever capacity you serve, be sure not to leave any child behind.

THE NOBLE CALL
We have a chance to leave our thumbprint on a child’s life
We are not just teachers; we are managers of the world’s greatest resource: children
Let the thumbprint be that we did make a difference!
Let our goal be to reach that unreachable child; let us make that our challenge!
For there’s nothing more honorable than making a difference in a child’s life.
WE can make the difference!

“… the greatest asset of a school is the personality of the Teacher”
John Strachan
